USING EG APP TO RECORD YOUR SCORE
To record a General Play score using the My EG app, you must pre-register your round before you tee off. Scores can be entered hole-by-hole or in full afterward. Your marker/attester must also verify the card on their own My EG app before midnight.
Follow these concrete steps to log your score:
1. Pre-Register Your Intent to Play

Open the My EG app on your phone.

Select Enter Score or Scorecard on the dashboard.

Confirm your Golf Club and Tees (The app uses GPS, so you must be at the course).

Select your Playing Partner/Marker from your friends list or by searching their details.

Register your round before stepping to the 1st tee.
2. Enter Your Scores

Input your gross score either hole-by-hole while playing or all at once at the end of the round.

If you did not finish a hole, select Pick Up by tapping the three dots next to the hole score.
3. Sign & Verify

Review and confirm your total gross score with your marker.

Enter your marker's name in the app to send the card for their verification.

Your playing partner will receive a notification and must log into their own My EG app to attest (verify) the scorecard.
Note: All General Play scores must be submitted and verified by midnight local time on the day of play to avoid penalties.

Local Rules
The Rules of Golf apply. (Effective 1st January 2019).
1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18)
a) On or over any fence, wall, hedge & stakes marked white defining the boundary of the course.
b) On or over any road; even if a ball finishes on another part of the course. Exception 1st off blue tees and 18th off white/blue tees.
2. Penalty Areas (Rule 17)
All penalty areas are identified by RED stakes.
3. Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16)
a) Ground under repair is marked by a blue/white line or indicated by a blue post or GUR sign. Complete relief MUST be taken. (Rule 16.1b).
b) All stone walls and retaining sleepers are ‘Integral Objects’.
c) Anywhere on the course, except when a ball is in a Penalty Area, relief under Rule 16.1a is allowed. This includes signage, artificial surfaces, paths and irrigation apparatus..
d) From any tree under two club lengths in height or identified by a stake. If a players ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and lies on or touches such a tree or interferes with the players stance or area of intended swing, the player MUST take relief. (Rule 16.1f).
Exceptions
There is NO RELIEF under rule 16.1 when:
a) It is clearly unreasonable to play the ball as it lies because of something other than an abnormal course condition, e.g. a gorse bush or wall.
b) Interference exists only because a player chooses a club, stance, swing or direction of play that is clearly unreasonable under the circumstances.
4. Ball deflected by a power line (Rule 14.6)
If it is known or virtually certain that a players ball hit a power line or a pole supporting a power line, the stroke does not count. The player MUST play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made.
5. Temporary Greens (Rule 13.1)
Temporary greens are wrong greens and relief MUST be taken under Rule 13.1f.

COMPETITION CRITERIA
Minimum entry criteria for all our stand-alone competitions:
All comps Max handicap index of 35
Summer knock-outs
No entry fee.
Have submitted at least 5 cards in WHS within the previous 12 months of the competition starting.
Pairs: Draw made to match up of one lower and one higher handicapper.
Handicap, 90% of difference.
Note: Golf England has changed how this is now calculated.
Order of Merit / Most improved player / Beer Trophy
Have joined by the 1st January with of the current year with a handicap of no greater than 35 & have had at least 20 cards recorded in WHS since its inception.
Plus
Order of Merit
Points only earned in team games (does not include hidden pairs).
Beer Trophy
Decided on average of best 7 individual scores.
Only scores entered in WHS will count.
Most improved player
To have played in at least 12 roll ups.
Medalford/Captain’s Cup
1. Players to have submitted at least 5 cards in WHS within the previous 12 months of the competition starting.
2. Medical exemptions for long term conditions including any convalescing or rehabilitation periods may be applied,
3. Cards to be entered into WHS with 95% playing handicap.
Hitchcock Memorial
Pairs drawn as one lower and one higher handicapper.
Rollups
It is intended to ring fence three “general play” card days per month starting in the spring thro to October and two per month through the remainder. These will be individual formats, which can include hidden pairs; and players will be required to enter the score into the WHS under general play unless playing a qualifier.
In order to maintain an accurate handicap, England Golf recommends that players return at least 20 scores over a two-year period.
